Celebrating Fathers

Stop by the library today or tomorrow to pick up a DVD of one of the great classic film dads like Gregory Peck’s Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird (DVD/TO) or Spencer Tracy as Stanley Banks in the 1950 version of Father of the Bride (DVD/FAT). See the list below for more  contemporary movies featuring dads!

Pursuit of Happyness (2006) – DVD/PUR
Will Smith plays Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman who tries to give his son a normal life despite the poverty they endure as he attempts a life-changing professional endeavor.

Big Fish (2003) – DVD/BIG
Billy Crudup plays a son trying to understand his dying father better through the few factual stories and abundant fantastic myths he has told about his life.

Definitely Maybe (2008) – DVD/DEF
In this romantic comedy Ryan Reynolds plays a father trying to explain his impending divorce and past relationships to his 10 year old daughter (Abigail Breslin). By changing the names, he leaves it to his daughter to guess which of the three women was her mother.
